All our courses adhere to The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) or The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Proficiency Standards.

Each standard describes what a learner is expected to do per skill: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. Our mission is to equip our students linguistically and culturally to communicate in a more diverse world. We help students engage in meaningful conversations in Spanish.

Our group classes are capped at a maximum of 6 students in person and a maximum of 4 students online.

Hybrid courses at a maximum of 6 students per group class.

Yes, you can but a proficiency evaluation will be required before doing any change.

To easily assess what course level is the right fit for you, please take a moment to complete our Spanish proficiency test.

Yes, however, prior to joining any of the ongoing courses a 75% pass result of a proficiency evaluation is required.

We conduct Live online and in-person classes in a 'Flipped The Classroom'approach. Students attend their class at the time and day scheduled for their course.

Flipped The Classroom

  1. Before class - student prepares to participate in class.
  2. During class - The teacher reviews assignments, questions, or comments and presents the new topic. Students apply and practice with teachers’ live feedback.
  3. After class - students work on assignments and prepare for the next class.

Tuition fees are to be paid in accordance with the lesson cost of the program you want to enroll by one of the two Payment Plan choices: Credit/Debit Card or cheques.

Speak Spanish Academy reserves the right to cancel programs with a full refund due to low enrollment. Two weeks before the starting day, the Academy will refund the full amount.

In the event, a student needs to cancel with less than two weeks notice to the course's starting date or for courses in progress. The Academy will only provide credit to be used in 12 months after a written cancellation notice is received.

No refunds will be given for the student's absence.

No make-up classes are available for group classes.

We understand that you may have various reasons to cancel a course with us and we will be sorry to see you go!

Please provide a 30-day written notice to Speak Spanish Academy. After receiving the written cancellation notice, the 30 days will be carried over to the month, and the last payment will be processed on the corresponding date of the course enrolled.

The student will continue to be registered until the 30th day and may choose to attend.

The Academy will only provide credit for 12 months after receiving a written cancellation notice if paid in full or the cancellation is received less than two weeks prior to starting a course.

We do not accept cancellations over the phone or by SMS; the only way to cancel is via email.

In-Person - There is a limited number of in-person group and private courses available at our location in Oakville.

Live Online - Meet at the same time and day each week online via Zoom. Complete homework assignments outside of class time. Engage in meaningful conversations with other classmates and a qualified instructor.

Hybrid - Conveniently designed to integrate live online and in-person learning. Never miss another class!

Self Paced Online - Follow a predetermined curriculum and time frame to enable consistent and progressive Spanish study at your own pace.

Your username and password to our digital learning platform will be sent a week before the course starts.

For registrations received within less than 5 business days of the starting day or for students joining a course in progress, please allow 4-5 business days to set up your account.

You will receive the Digital platform credentials by email.

Students are encouraged to add to their weekly schedule 2-3 hours per week outside of the class to practice Spanish (homework, reading, movies, music, podcast etc)

  • Homework: There is weekly homework assigned. Please make sure to log in to your digital platform every week.
  • Evaluations: There is an evaluation per unit completed. You will find the evaluation dates on your digital platform calendar. Unless otherwise informed.

We use Google Classroom, a free web-based platform that requires a Gmail address.

In addition to our digital textbook and curriculum resources, the use of Google Classroom helps us create a great learning experience.

You will receive an email inviting you to join the Google Classroom for the course enroled.

24 hours before each scheduled class, students, parents, or guardians will receive a reminder email of the class including the zoom link.

Please note the zoom link won’t change unless another instructor takes care of the class.

For a better learning experience, students are highly encouraged to turn on cameras and audio during class.
